Hotel Dei Duchi is a first rate hotel with on foot access to many of the attractions of the old town. The stunning view through the glass walls of the breakfast/dining room revealed a lovely countryside and green woods. The RomanTheater is right next to the hotel! The well restored structure is accessed via a visit to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, a 5 minute walk. Our large, high ceilinged, immaculate, modern room was warm and comfortable. We were given an extra bench for our 2 pieces luggage. The bathroom had a large sink, good floor space and an easy to use shower. Breakfast in the airy dining room was luxuriously ample, with a wide selection of fresh sweet and savory items. The buffet was beautifully presented, and constantly refilled. Pots of hot tea, coffee and hot chocolate were brought promptly. There was plenty of space if social distancing was desired. A dinner we had there one night was hot delicious and well served. The hotel also recommended La Taverna, a 5 minute walk away. The welcome was friendly, unfussy, yet attentive and the food was very good!

This may be the only non-medieval building in town. It is nice and quiet, two somewhat uphill blocks from the beginning of the Center, Piazza Libertà’. Everything else is also uphill, but, not far from this piazza, they have escalators and elevators to take you all the way up and around, the fortress Cardinal Albornoz (Spanish) built to keep the city papal, and the stunning Roman aqueduct and bridge between two mountains which Goethe and I both traversed, the Duomo. (The first uphill right-turn up on Piazza Liberta’, followed by your first left, takes you quickly to the best trattoria I found over three nights, La Lanterna, though Sabbattini on the square was good too.) I usually avoid breakfast in a hotel. I want to get out and about, and I really want fresh orange juice and a real, not-automat, cappuccino. I didn’t try here, just skipped out. Vincenzo’s on Piazza Liberta’ gave me both and a fresh brioche when I wanted one with no trouble and little cost. The hotel has a front desk and an elevator, things I prize, and excellent Wi-Fi. Friendly people, well recommended.

I had a brilliant one-night stay at this lovely hotel in January. I enjoyed it from the moment I pulled into the super convenient parking space which had been reserved for me, right through to check out. The staff were friendly but efficient. My room was really great, it had a big double bed, with lots of space to move around it, and a balcony with a view over the valley. The location was ideal too: easily accessible by car but still part of the old city and only a 5 minute walk to the Duomo. Great value for money overall.

I liked the location of the hotel-within easy reach of the center of Spoleto & wonderful view of Teatro Romano below the restaurant terrace - easily accessed for the booked performance. The food - Always delicious in Italy.I ate a dish typical of the region-Strangozzi all'tartufo. The room was comfortable & clean . Late check out - 12 noon was much appreciated. Transport to & from the hotel reccomended by the hotel reception also much appreciated . I will return to Hotel dei Duchi next year for the Spoleto Festival. .

When we checked in we were lucky that there was parking available on the property instead of driving to the public lot. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and our room was ready before the check in time. The location was ideal for walking to the main centre of town. The room had a great view and was very comfortable. There were good towels and pillows and the shower was great. We enjoyed our drinks in the garden. Breakfast was really good with a big selection. Overall, excellent value.
